Well time certainly flies!

I started this blog back in 2006 to document my journey as an aspiring writer. As it turns out, I didn't really get that far with it, despite a few attempts at NaNoWriMo (which yielded a respectable amount of words). 

Life kind of took hold, I had another baby, a job, moved house, renovated said house, the children started to grow up and develop lives of their own and my enthusiasm, inspiration and ambitions to write kind of just waned.

Until now.

I've reached a crossroads in my life, it's a significant time of change and I've decided to move forward with my ambition of completing a book. And that really is my goal, completing a book. It may never get published, it may be a load of old twaddle but it will be my twaddle and if I get to the point of having a completed story, then I'll be a happy girl and feel like I have achieved.

I feel refreshed, renewed and ready to start. I shall update my blog regularly as I work through this journey, mainly as a personal reminder of why I am doing it and as a record of how far I (hopefully) will have travelled!

Sneaking in...

Okay, so I obviously never met my own target of 10,000 words before Christmas. I got completely waylaid and then lost all motivation to get going on my story again but I have found some motivation again and am currently working on adding to and bumfing it out (that is a technical term by the way.....). Current word count is 5,673 but I hope to be a bit further along by the end of this evening.

So my new goal is to find some method to the madness and start working chapter by chapter through the book, starting at the very beginning (well it would make sense to surely?) and see how I get on. Word goal? Reach 10,000 by this time next week - so 7 days to write about another 4,000 words which in theory should be more than doable. But this is she who lacks in the get up and go required. Why do I find it so hard to get on with the things I want to do!

Welcome to my world....

Hello and welcome to my brand new shiny blog. I am a 27 year old mother of one darling little 11 month old girl and I have another cooking right now, expected in May 2007. I am also an aspiring novelist and this is blog will follow my dream of completing my first book and hopefully my path to getting published.

The status of my first book? Well I have finally managed to put pen to paper and have got 4,500 words typed up with around another 2,500 to go. It's all a bit of a higgeldy piggeldy mess but I to tend to jump around my story a lot and let myself concentrate on whatever bit grabs me. My aim is to get 10,000 words down on paper before Christmas, which is 19 days away. It's unlikely that it is achievable but I will give it a bloody good go!

I am not too sure where my story will end but it starts with the discovery of an affair and the story is based around two sisters with a whole lot of turmoil thrown in for good measure!
